About Dr. David Jolley
Dr David Jolley has lived in the foothills close to Flinders University for the last 25 years. During his 30 years experience at the tertiary level David has developed a keen interest in good essay writing and English expression. Through the Australian AUSAID programme at Flinders University and the Wirltu Yarlu Aboriginal Education programme at Adelaide University David has been providing one-on-one tutoring and editing assistance to international and indigenous undergraduate students, focusing on essay argument, structure, presentation and expression. David has also edited many Masters Degrees and PhD's on various international themes including China, international free trade, and Human Rights in South East Asia. David completed his PhD in 2005, studying the civil war in Guatemala. His thesis, "The Guatemalan Peace Negotiations: A New Democratic Opportunity", touched on a range of contemporary themes including international political economy, democracy, peace negotiations, ethnicity and Human Rights. Dr Jolley has taught a wide range of topics at Flinders and Adelaide that touch on international political economy, international development, poverty alleviation, democracy, human rights, African politics, Chinese and South East Asian politics and business, Latin American political violence and torture, and food production. David has written a number of articles and chapters including "Indigenous Mobilisation in Oaxaca, Mexico: Towards Indianismo?"(with Geralyn Pye in 2011), and "Post-Independence Africa: Challenges and Opportunities" (with Tanya Lyons, 2018). David has also edited a number of books including "Politics, Economy and Society in Contemporary China", by Bill Brugger and Stephen Regular, 1994, and "Negotiating Malay Identities in Singapore: the Role of Modern Islam", by Rizwana Abdul Azeez, 2016.
